WineInspector Magazine March Edition

After the first half of WineInspector's annual competition the current No. 1 is....

Tenuta Il Greppo Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2007:

This Sangiovese matured for three years in Slavonian oak barrels. It appears ruby in the glass. A complex bouquet with flavours of meat, wood and cherry intermixed with herbs and pine-cone. On the palate the 2007 Riserva exhibits terrific volume, depth and expression with aromas of cherry, vanilla, toast and smoke paired with plum, slight lemon, strawberry and floral notes. After some days more expressive. Will be close to perfection in several years. Full bodied, concealed tannins and a long aftertaste. Good buy!  Drink: 2017-2035.

Tenuta Il Greppo Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2007:

Dieser Sangiovese reifte drei Jahre lang in Fässern aus slawonischer Eiche und erscheint in rubinroter Farbe im Glas. Ein komplexes Bouquet mit Düften nach Fleisch, Holz und Kirsche sowie Kräutern und Tannenzapfen. Am Gaumen zeigt die 2007er Riserva fantastisches Volumen, Tiefe und Ausdruckskraft mit Aromen von Kirsche, Vanille, Toast und Rauch, gepaart mit Pflaume, feiner Zitrone, Erdbeere und floralen Noten. Nach ein paar Tagen noch expressiver. Wird später nahe der Perfektion sein. Voller Körper, fast verborgene Tannine und ein langes Finale.
